How to work with EM Layered Navigation?

EM Advanced Layered navigation is more user-friendly, faster, and simpler than default Layered Navigation of Magento, it helps you create beautiful landing pages, show filters with images/logos, allow search by multiple filter options; moreover do other enhancements. It becomes easier for you to navigate your website, more visually attractive and memorable – and thus stimulate your customers to make orders.

1. USAGE

1.1. CONFIGURE ATTRIBUTE FILTERS

– Login the backend, go to EMThemes, click on EM Layered Navigation. You will see filters for attributes, that are included in layered navigation.

To add attribute in Layered Navigation, please read instruction in section of Layered Navigation (Shop By block)

Click on a filter to edit its options.

  • At the General tab, you can configure filter’s display. There are several options to display filter value: checkbox, select box, radio button, image, text (default), slider (can only set for price filter)

  • At the Options tab,there is a list of all the filter options. Click on the Add button to upload image for it.

1.2. EXTENSION SETTINGS

Go to System > Configuration, click on EM Layered Navigation tab, you can enable/disable ajax function in frontend

2. SHOW EM LAYERED NAVIGATION ON THE FRONTEND

– When you install EM Layered Navigation extension, it will replace the default Layered Navigation (Shop By block) of Magento

– You can find its layout file in folder app/design/frontend/base/default/layout/em_layerednavigation.xml.

– You can custom this layout in your theme by copying it to the layout folder of your theme. Example: app/design/frontend///layout/em_layerednavigation.xml
